SCHEDULE FOR OUR 2011 - 2012 SCHOOL YEAR !
ROYAL SOCIETY is a co-op day that meets twice a month.
We meet at Kinchafoonee Baptist Church located at 219 West Century Rd, Leesburg, GA 31763.
Schedule: (subject to change )Start date is August 12, 2011
All Children...Bible reading and Bible Memorizing is the most important things we do. It is what we want to encourage everyone to be working on each week.Drawing Class - Following are supplies I recommend you have for each child:
Drawing pencil(s)-
A number 2H pencil is recommended for beginners, though you are welcome to try more than one kind.
A spiral bound sketch or drawing pad, 9x12 inches or 8.5x11 inches.A blending tool- These often look like long sticks of paper that have been rolled to a fine point.
A vinyl or kneaded eraser- A kneaded eraser is helpful because it is versatile and can be molded to points to erase in small areas or pressed to the paper to gently lift the lead or charcoal away from the paper rather than rubbing at it and creating unwanted streaks.
A brush for the sole purpose of removing pencil dust or eraser crumbs with out smudging your drawing. This can be an artist brush or make-up brush as long as the hairs are somewhat loose and it is used only for this purpose.
A pencil sharpener- This needs to be a handheld, manual kind, not battery-powered.
Fixative- This is a spray which seals your finished drawing.
A sharpie or another fine or broad tipped drawing marker- In the beginning classes we will be using these while training students to look at their subjects before marking on the paper, to take away the ability to erase, and to train in solving problems when there has been a "mistake."
The following are suggested, but optional supplies:
Color pencils - I highly recommend not going cheap on these, as they will make all the difference in adding life to the students' works while not adding to their frustration. Cheap pencils break easily, don't blend well, and don't have the same color intensity as artist pencils.
Charcoal sticks- Have sandpaper as well if you choose to experiment with these to sharpen the ends, and have a blending tool.
Chalk pastels and/or oil pastels.
Fine and broad tipped colored drawing markers- buying black drawing markers can be tricky since most brands of black ink fade, smear, and turn greenish when touched by nearby colored inks, so try to find a brand that will retain its quality. You can test them by running yellow or another light colored ink next to the black.
Sign Language -Please see the website at lifeprint.com You can go to the Free Lessons page and then click on lesson 1 and even 2. This will allow your students practice as well as be caught up to where everyone is.
Volleyball - Please where the proper shoes. No flip flops or boots. Sneakers or closed toes.
Determination - This is the character Study book we will all be working on. You can order it for $5.45 from
www.keepersofthefaith.com It is item #004060. You can just put it into the search and it will come up for you.
For all GirlsAll the girls need the Keepers of the Faith Handbook. This can be found at
www.keepersofthefaith.com. It does cost $15.95 and is item #002332
Jewelry Making - Each time the supply list will change but since you will have the tools as you go along it should be less and less you would need to get...here is what you need for this time.
Chain - can be found under the beads at Walmart - they cost $1
Chain Nose Pliers, Round Nose Pliers, Cutters - The three of these tools are actually combined into one tool that I found at Walmart for $5
Eye Pins - These are like straight pins with a round circle on the ends. They are also at walmart and I am sure you can find all these items at Michaels and Hobby Lobby as well.
Jump rings - If you don't know what these are I suggest you put jump rings into your search bar and it ill come up. It is easier to see than for me to explain...they are just a circle though that is what you usually connect your end of your necklace to the clasp.
Rug - You will need a hula hoop. You will not ruin it so if you have one already you can use that one. A cheap one is fine. The size of the hula hoop will be the size of your rug ( actually the rug will be just a bit smaller ) Old t-shirts - size large will work best...don't get smalls and children's sizes. Cut off the hem and then cut 1" strips from the bottom to the bottom of the sleeves. Leave the sleeves attached to the upper part of the t-shirt. We'll use the sleeves later, so don't throw it away. This will give you one inch width loops. Cut to the bottom of the sleeves. If you are unsure all and get more info before cutting.
Quilting - Cotton fabric squares. You need different fabric prints for quilting. You can buy some already cut for you in about 5 inch squares at Walmart for $10.
12 x 10 material for backing project. You may want this to coordinate with the colors you have for your material above.
Batting needs to be cotton batting not polyester.
You will also need sewing scissors
Quilting thread
Quilting needles ( though you could use regular ones if that is all you have )
Thread to match the backing material

Proverbs Study - This can be found in the Contenders of the Faith Handbook
First Aid - Attached is the Emergency contact list required in the book for this badge. Also a syllabus for what they will cover to give you heads up. It is recommended that you have a first aid book available as well. Ours is older so we will update things on line and you could do the same instead of buying a newer one if need be. If you are viewing this on the website, please email to get this attachment.
Clean Up - Immediately following clubs and class - If you come for the club meetings please plan to also stay and help with clean up. Many hands make light work. It is expected that each family will help.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ACTIVITIES
If you plan to participate in any classes we are expecting you to help with cleaning the church. At the present time we are not requiring you to sign up to clean on a certain day but if we find a lack of help we will need to have a more firm commitment. It is always a good idea to have the children help with the cleaning as well. Young and old can serve one another.
